Free Credit Reports (from the government!)

I came across an article a while ago about access to free credit reports. Under the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act you can request and obtain(online or by mail) a free credit report once every 12 months from each of the three nationwide consumer credit reporting companies (Equifax, Transunion and Experian)

Well, if you've ever search for credit reports on the internet, you know that there are many sites that offered "free credit reports". So be careful because there is only one official website: AnnualCreditReport.com. The process is simple and will take you to the three credit reporting companies' websites to give you access to your free reports.

Two tips about the reports:
  1. You are allowed one report from each company every 12 months so you can either take them all at once to or spread them out over the 12 month period.
  2. Credit scores are not included in the free reports but you do have the option to purchase them.

Its always a good idea to keep an eye on your credit, so take advantage of this free service and order your free reports!
